London, Paris, Buisson, 1789. Two volumes in two. 8vo (21.0 x 14.0 cm). 792 pp.; folding table. Uniform original speckled wrappers with printed paper label on the spines.

Rare first bibliography on Linnaeus by the British naturalist and malacologist Richard Pulteney (1730-1801). Translated from the first English edition of 1781, however with numerous additions by L. A. Millin de Grandmaison. Uncut. Edges frayed. Former owner's inscription of the French magistrate Charles Julien Dattin de Lancey (1752-1826) on half titles; spine cover abraded at head and foot, but not beyond what one might expect after 200 years, a few marginal spots and a marginal damp-stain to a few leaves; otherwise a very good, complete set. Soulsby, 33 and 2609.
