Samuel Brookes (d. 1838) was one of the first British authors who saw the advantages of Lamarck's classification over Linnaeus's and produced this well-illustrated work. A wide-margined copy. The text is a bit foxed, as is usual. The plates clean, except for the top outer margins, which are affected by mildew. Rare. Freeman, British Natural History Books 1495-1900.
