Paris, Muséum d'Histoire naturelle, Académie des Sciences, 1822-1857. Seven papers in one. 4to (26.3 x 20.7 cm). Contemporary quarter pebbled morocco over marbled boards. Spine with four raised bands, gilt title and gilt vignette. Marbled endpapers. Speckled edges.

A well-selected collection of the most important papers on botany and palaeobotany by the French botanist and palaeontologist Adolphe Théodore Brongniart (1801-1876), known as the "father of palaeobotany", as he was the first to establish links between fossil and Recent plants. This collection of papers mostly published in the Muséum's Mémoires,and Archives, and the Comptes Rendus of the Académie des Sciences, consists of the following titles, all with Brongniart as sole author: (1822) Sur la classification et la distribution des végétaux fossiles en général, et sur ceux des terrains de sédiment supérieur en particulier.
