Stockholm, P. Palmquist, [1907]-1910. Three volumes in three. 4to (31.0 x 24.5 cm). 2328 pp.; 87 plates (four in full colour), 137 text figures, one map. Original uniform printed boards.

Very important zoological contribution to the Kilimanjaro mountains in Africa, describing almost 60,000(!) animals, mostly insects and other invertebrates. "Nicht im Buchhandel" [not for sale], and now rare. The various chapters dealing with zoological groups are each written by different experts and nearly always contain new taxa, including many new species. Authors include Aurivillius (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae, Curculionidae), Kerremans (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), d'Ailly (Mollusca, nearly all species new), Lönnberg (mammals, herpetology - with several new taxa - and fish), Tullgren (Arthropoda: Scorpiones, Araneae), Sjöstedt (nearly all Orthoptera, and, for instance, Odonata with 52 pages and two plates), Friese (Hymenoptera: Apidae), etc., etc. The first chapter is largely devoted to the people of the area, and is well-illustrated with photographic plates of people, dwellings, and landscape. Uncut. Spine covers partly chipped; text leaves with some occasional spotting but mostly clean. A very good set. Kainbacher, 396; Nissen ZBI, 3859.
