Uniform original pebbled cloth boards in two colours. Spines with smooth bands and gilt title. Text volume with yellow endpapers. Speckled edges. The ornithological magnum opus of the Bohemian zoologist, herpetologist, palaeontologist and ornithologist Antonín Jan Frič (1832-1913), who is better known under his Germanized name, Fritsch. Very unusual to see both volumes still in their original bindings. Provenance. Asher cat. IX, 1954.
