An excellent monograph of the herpetology of the Malay Peninsula by the Belgian botanist, herpetologist and ichthyologist George Albert Boulenger (1858-1937). With a preface by the British zoologist and Director of Museums of the Federal Malay States, Herbert Christopher Robinson (1874-1929), who tallied 238 species of reptiles and 66 amphibians, all carefully described and often well-illustrated. Provenance; a small paper slip with the handwritten name E. A. Mannya mounted in the top margin of the title page, and an unknown autograph above the preface drophead title. Boards near fine, except for a light abrasion at the spine head; map a bit frayed and creased at the edges, otherwise a very good copy. Very uncommon. Adler I, pp. 55-56.
