Original printed wrapper mounted on front board. A very rare paper by the ichthyologist and herpetologist Auguste Henri André Duméril (1812-1870), published in two parts. This is the first part, on the systematics of turtles, crocodiles and chameleons, with the inclusion of several new species (five turtles, one crocodile, two chameleons). The second part, published several years later is on lizards and is not included. The illustrations are excellent. Published in the Muséum's Archives , volume 6. Uncut. Advertisement (four pp.) for Tchihatcheff's Asie mineure description physique, statistique et archéologique de cette contrée bound in front. Two uncoloured plates are a bit spotted, a stain in the top gutter and margin, otherwise a very good, clean copy. Adler I, pp. 43-44; Nissen ZBI, 1195; Vanzolini I, p. 73. With the inclusion of five new turtles, one new crocodile, and two new chameleons
