Batavia, Bataviaasch Genootschap, 1823. 8vo (21.6 x 13.1 cm). Pictorial title page (to the volume); pp. 127-223; six fine, folded engraved plates. In original printed boards.

Two rare papers by Blume on the flora of Java, in particular on Javanese trees. The six plates all relate to the second article, on Javanese oaks. This is the complete Verhandelingen van het Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunst en Wetenschappen, volume 9. Bound with a smaller, non-related paper. Boards detached, worn, spine cover perished; some damp staining to the first few leaves, however, not to Blume's contributions. Three plates with a tear into figure due to careless opening (repaired), otherwise a good copy. Stafleu & Cowan, 560 (first paper; the second is, for some odd reason, not mentioned).
