A seldom-seen portrait of Carolus Linnaeus, engraved by the Scottish artist Thomas Hamilton Crawford (1860-1948) after a painting made in 1775 by the Swedish portrait painter Alexander Roslin (1718-1793), which is displayed in the National Portrait Gallery, London, as acknowledged in fine engraving in the top margin. Uncut, with the widest possible margins. Signed, in pencil, by the artist, "T. Hamilton Crawford", in the lower right margin. Small publisher's blind-stamp in the lower left corner. Small crease in top right corner, otherwise very good. Not in Soulsby.
