Ried-Bienne (Biel), Philippe Robert, 1909. Oblong folio (36.5 x 49.0 cm). Front free endpaper with printed logo on verso; half-title page, with text and printed copy number (#146), title page, [xliii] pp., all printed in three colours; 18 full colour plates mounted on larger sheets, each with a printed tissue-guard. Original full cloth with colour-printed front board. Boards with bevelled edges. Floral endpapers.

A large, magnificently illustrated Art Nouveau work, by the Swiss Jean Philippe Édouard Robert (1881-1930). The fine illustrations show autumn leaves in all their beauty. The ornaments and letterpress are by the renowned Swiss Art Nouveau artist Eugène Grasset (1841-1917). This is one of a limited series, numbered individually, this one being no. 146. All pages uncut. Provenance: pictorial bookplate "Le Gout" of Henri Tak (most probably the Dutch librarian, historian, and bibliophile Henri Tak [1844-1910]) on front free endpaper verso, thus leaving the beautiful printed recto of the endpaper unblemished. Light shelf wear, mostly restricted to spine ends. Internally an excellent, clean copy. Schneider-Henn, Ornament und Dekoration, 376.
