Enthoven, J. J. K.
Bijdragen tot de Geographie van Borneo's Wester-Afdeeling.
Leiden, E. J. Brill, 1903. Two volumes in two. 8vo (24.5 x 16.6 cm). 941 pp.; six folded coloured maps, nine folded tables. Original uniform printed wrappers.
Interesting monograph on a very poorly explored region in the interior of Borneo (Kalimantan) by Joël Joseph Karel Enthoven (1851-1925), Head of the Topographical Survey of former Dutch East India between 1897 and 1909. It was published as supplement to the Tijdschrift van het Koninklijk Nederlandsch Aardrijkskundig Genootschap ( Journal of the Royal Dutch Geographical Society) written in Dutch, in particular about the history, geography and ethnography of the Dayaks of Borneo (Kalimantan) with detailed maps of the several provinces and a large geographical index. Private library stamp of the Dutch geologist, zoologist and explorer Gustaaf Adolf Frederik Molengraaff (1860-1942) on front wrappers and title pages; maps a bit spotted, mainly on the versos only, otherwise clean. The blinds spine covers may be a later addition. A very good set.
