Halle, Ksl. Leop.-Carol.-Deutschen Akademie der Naturforscher 1879. Large 4to (30.7 x 23.6 cm). Title page, 37 pp.; two fine, originally hand-coloured lithographed plates. Original full cloth. Boards with gilt border, front board with gilt title. Yellow endpapers.

A finely illustrated work - rarely found coloured - by the German entomologist and Lepidoptera specialist Hermann Dewitz (1848-1890). It includes the description of many new species. This work is usually found with the plates uncoloured. Horn-Schenkling does not record coloured copies. Published in the academy's Nova Acta, Volume 41, but this is an offprint. Old label of a defunct entomological society on the front board and a small, round stamp of the same in the top margin of the title page and on plate versos (not shining through); otherwise very good, unmarked. Horn-Schenkling II (1), p. 594.
