Houlbert, C. et al.
Faune Entomologique Armoricaine. Publiée par la Station Entomologique de l'Université de Rennes. Tome I-II.
Rennes, Station Entomologique de l'Université de Rennes, 1909-1912. Three parts in three. 8vo (25.0 x 16.5 cm). 624 pp. [viii, 97; 140; 111-311; vi, 172]. 600 text illustrations [146; 149; 150-237; 217]. Near uniform original wrappers.
Published by C. Oberthür, and notoriously complicated, principally dealing with Coleoptera, but several later sections dealt with Hemiptera (a few families included), and Lepidoptera (not included). Beetle families kept being added until well into the 1920's, but then as single monographs, whereas these two volumes group several families together, and include general introductions. The first Volume, however, is in an expanded second edition, replacing one published in low numbers in 1903. Families dealt with are Cerambycidae, Cicindelidae, Carabidae, and Scarabeidae. Pagination is a mess: Tome I. 2e partie has a wrapper text: "Réimpression à 300 exemplaires...avec pagination simple, mais qui porterait avec pagination double de 187 à 380". This, however, is evidently nonsense. In the rear of the second volume is a section on some hemipterid families, each with its own pagination, and text illustrations (not counted). Uncut. Some wear to the wrappers, as can be expected, otherwise very good, clean, unmarked. Not in Cat. BM(NH).
