Bordeaux, R. Laguillotière, 1829. Large 12mo (18.2 x 11.1 cm). 591 pp. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards. Spine with gilt ornamental lines and vignettes, and gilt title. Marbled endpapers.

The 1829 third, expanded edition. Written by the French botanist and founder of the Société Linnéenne de Bordeaux, Jean-François Laterrade (1784-1858), who dedicated this work to the Comte de Lynch, honorary major of Bordeaux. Uncut. Old, circular stamp on title. Some scholarly annotations in an old hand on the front board ( Jungermania [sic], Marchantia... indicating the presence of liverworts), front free endpaper verso, and blank verso of the last text page; and on a small paper sheet mounted on the rear pastedown. Light wear to boards; a few pages lightly toned, otherwise a very good copy. Stafleu and Cowan, 4228.
