Neuchatel, Société Typographique, 1773. 8vo (18.8 x 11.5 cm). xxxix, 137, xxii pp.; 16 double, folded tables. Contemporary full calf. Spine with four raised bands. Rich gilt floral compartments, red morocco label with gilt title. Edges red.

Rather rare work by – according to the title page – "M. B. C. P. de la C. de P." but known to be written by Bernard-Nicolas Bertrand. According to Ward and Carozzi, the initials stand for "M[essieur] Bertrand, Conseiller Palatin de la Cour de Pologne". The tables contain arrangements of "fossiles", some of which are of animals and plants indeed, but others are of various groups of stones and minerals. Former owner's stamp on front pastedown, some worming to the boards, small chip at spine foot, internally a very good, clean copy. Ward and Carozzi, 195.
