Important monograph on the polychaete worm family Capitellidae in the Mediterranean Sea. The plates are morphological, anatomical, histological and cell-biological. Plates 1, and 33-36 are in chromolithography. The author, Hugo Eisig (1847-1920), was a German marine biologist and a student of Ernst Haeckel. He became a vice-director of the Zoologische Station in Naples. Uncut. Wrappers and facing leaves a bit spotted, otherwise a fine, clean copy. Very rare, especially in such a good state.
