A unique, complete copy of a very rare work with several original hand-coloured drawings of caterpillars tipped in next to their descriptions. This was probably the work of Josef Machacek, whose entomo-botanical bookplate is pasted on the front pastedown. Another entomological bookplate, of Hans Malicky, is pasted on the front flyleaf. Together, the works are titled Die Pflanzen und Raupen Deutschlands. Versuch einer lepidopterologischen Botanik. Both the title pages to the series and to the volumes are present; apparently they were also sold separately. Boards rubbed.
