A seldom-seen work, dealing with, mainly, well-preserved Eocene and Miocene molluscs (and a few fish and polychaetes - Serpula), including many new species. Little is known about the author Jacques Dareste de la Chavanne, who is stated to be a Docteur ès Sciences, préparateur-adjoint au Laboratoire de Géologie de l'université de Lyon, and collaborateur au Service de la Carte géologique de l'Algérie. Perhaps his full name is Joseph Jacques Dareste de la Chavanne (1881-1948). Lacking wrappers. Binding weak, stamp erased on p. 49; small clipping in top outer margin of the title page; otherwise, a very god, clean copy. The plates are excellent, modern reprints are no match.
