Paris, Émile Deyrolle, 1879-1881. Three volumes in one. Folio (31.5 x 23.8 cm). 532 pp. Numerous illustrations. Contemporary quarter pebbled cloth over marbled boards. Spine with gilt bands and title.

The rare first volumes of a chiefly entomological and malacological bimonthly, being the successor to another seldom-seen periodical, Les Petites Nouvelles Entomologiques. Indeed, entomology, in addition to malacology, is well-represented (for example, C. F. Ancey and Albert Granger are main contributors). Other papers deal with herpetology, botany, etc. Pagination and issue-numbering is consecutive throughout. It contains descriptions of many new species and is a good source for obituaries and publication records. Issue 66 is an index, treating this as a single volume, however spread over three years. Publication ceased in 1910. The first six issues loose, a few leaves with marginal tears or repairs; otherwise, in very good condition. Cat. BM(NH) Serial Titles, p. 1099.
