Important contribution to the Palaeozoic, Mesozoic, and Quaternary palaeontology of northern Germany, in particular on invertebrates, and including the descriptions and fine illustrations of many new species of fossils found in mostly Mesozoic and Palaeozoic boulders transported to Germany during the ice ages and mostly originating in Scandinavia. Of the fossils, molluscs and brachiopods are the most frequent. The author tries to establish the origin and age of the material. Written by the German palaeontologist Carl Ferdinand [von] Roemer (1818-1891), and published in the famous series, Paläontologische Abhandlungen, being Band (Volume) 2, Heft (Part) 5. As issued, with the fine plates loose, in rear pocket. Tiny stamp on one blank verso; otherwise, an excellent, clean copy.
