Wiesbaden, C. W. Kreidel, 1870. Large 8vo (25.5 x 16.3 cm). xxviii, 403 pp. 19th-century half morocco over marbled boards. Spine with four raised, polished bands. Compartments rich gilt with floral borders and gilt title. Marbled endpapers. Marbled edges.

According the writer the first comprehensive work on German non-marine molluscs since the work of C. Pfeiffer (1821-1828). The copy of the influential French malacologist Joseph Charles Hippolyte Crosse (1826-1898), purchased at the sale of his library in 1899 by the French geologist and palaeontologist Émile Chelot (1862-1930) (signed note in the top corner of the front free endpaper verso). Also, with a stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020) in the top margin of the title page. The reference list contains many additional titles in an old hand. The descriptive and distributional text is clean. Very rare. Cat. BM(NH) p. 1026.
