Cambridge, MA, The Museum of Comparative Zoölogy, 1880-1889. Eight parts in two. 8vo. First bound volume: 464 pp. [9;18;11;112;241;27;46]; 25 engraved plates [0;8;3;0;9;3;2]. Second volume: 492 pp., 40 engraved plates; all with explanatory text leaves. Later uniform blue buckram. Spines with gilt title. Several original, printed wrappers bound in.

The complete Mollusca section (and the brachiopods) of the most important zoological dredging operation in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, an area of depths over 25 fathoms previously only incidentally investigated (e.g. a few stations by the Challenger expedition; and earlier by a few others, as recorded by Alcide d'Orbigny in 1847). Massive numbers of often spectacular new molluscs and other marine invertebrates were collected. These papers of the Museum's Bulletin series contained a sizable part of Dall's new molluscan taxa. Stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020) in the top margin of the first front free endpaper recto and first wrappers of each volume. Verrill's second paper detached, otherwise a very good, clean copy. Most parts are very uncommon, a complete set of papers, such as this one, is definitely rare.
