Brussels, G. and R. Delcorde, ca. 1930. Small, oblong folio (7.8 x 22.5 cm). 54 different full colour paper samples. Printed wrappers.

A beautiful little catalogue of early 20th century "classic" and state-of-the-art paper designed in particular for luxury book bindings. The designs and paper were produced in Lyon, France, by the firm of Keller-Dorian, active since the 1820s, and under this name since, most probably, 1921. The catalogue was made for the Belgian firm of G. and R. Delcorde, which was founded on the stated address in or shortly after 1913, and is still active from the same premises. A stamp on the front wrapper is from the Rotterdam (Netherlands) firm S. Cohen, a paper, goldleaf, and precious metals dealer active (at the address mentioned, viz. Nieuwehaven 167, destroyed by the German bombing of Rotterdam in May 1940), up to about 1935. Many samples are marbled; several are heightened with gilt. Fore edges of the wrappers a bit chipped; otherwise, very good.
