Wien, Verein der Naturbeobachter und Sammler, 1926-1934. 8vo (22.3 x 15.0 cm). Eight title pages, 271 pp.; 19 plates [1-18, 13(bis)] of which 17 in colour. In slightly later grey blind half cloth over marbled boards.

A seldom-seen periodical, which, despite the generalized name, deals only with entomology, and principally with Lepidoptera. The coloured plates, mainly depicting butterflies, and several more colourful moths, are very attractive. Several new taxa are introduced in these volumes. Oddly, text page-numbering in the first volume starts anew with each issue. In Volume 4, the first four pages are erroneously numbered 37-40, and three pages at the end of Volume 6 are not numbered. Publication ended quite suddenly, and a title and index for the ninth volume were never published. Plate order is somewhat irregular, and by mistake the number 13 was used twice, the second for a plate with photos of grasshoppers. A former owner added a typed index to the last volume - apparently because such an index was never printed. Complete, unmarked copies, such as this one, are rare. Slight discolouring of spine where once was a label, otherwise excellent, clean, unmarked. Cat. BM(NH) Serial Titles, p. 1827.
