One of the rarest, and best-illustrated contributions to the Malayan lepidopterid fauna by the German medical doctor and entomologist Arnold Andreas Friedrich Pagenstecher (1837-1913). Pagenstecher was responsible for more works on butterflies based on collections gathered during of the zoological and botanical expedition led by Wilhelm "Willy" Kükenthal (1861-1922) in the Malayan region, and in particular present-day Indonesia.
