Papier dominoté [Colour-printed paper]
A large, colour-printed sheet.
[Bassano del Grappa, Remondini, ca. 1800]. Large, folio sheet of laid paper, oblong (36.3 x 45.5 cm). Loose, as issued.
A finely coloured sheet of printed and painted paper, or papier dominoté (French) or Buntpapier (German), probably meant as endpapers for folio-sized books. Wood block printing of cubes and flowers in red, blue, and yellow. Almost certainly the work of Remondini, a firm of print publishers based in Bassano del Grappa and active from the mid-17th century to 1860. The edges are uncut, as issued. One strip of extra paper to verso for strengthening. Some marginal fraying, the paper weakly wrinkled, otherwise in excellent condition, the printing is strong.
