The Netherlands, various publishers, [ca. 1900-1940]. Oblong folio (30.5 x 40.5 cm [maximum]). 131 loose leaves. Blind limp cardboard covers.

This is a catalogue of retail stock illustrations from various printers, publishers, and advertising agencies, to be used by shops, in particular butchers, (green)grocers, cheese- and fishmongers, etc. Recognizable styles include Art Nouveau (Jugendstil), and Art Deco, placing most if not all items between 1900 and 1940. Most items are strictly pictorial, showing fruit, vegetables, livestock, flowers, household utensils, fashion, heraldic badges, etc. All are numbered, and many are in colour. Printed on various types of paper, some of which are transparent. When words are included, they are in Dutch, indicating the Netherlands as a source. Some leaves age-toned, but the majority fresh. A very good, varied collection.
