Important monograph on New World oaks, with extensive descriptions and numerous illustrations of species from North and Central America, down to Colombia, and Cuba. Northern Mexico, especially, appears to be rich in species, and in South America indigenous oaks are near absent. The variability in leaf shapes is phenomenal. Written by the American botanist William Trelease (1857-1945). Published as Volume 20 of the Academy's Memoirs. Very uncommon, especially outside the USA.
