Upsaliae [Uppsala], Joh. Edman, 1789. Quarto (21.5 x 17.5 cm). Title page, 16 pp. Early 20th-century light blue buckram; black morocco strip with gilt title on the spine. Marbled endpapers.

A seldom-seen entomological work by the Swedish botanist and entomologist Carl Peter Thunberg (1743-1828), a student or 'apostle' of Linnaeus, defended as a thesis by one of his own students, Samuel Türner (1762-1822). Uncut; with the widest possible margins. In the top margin of the first blank a small, printed label of "Bibliothèque d'Histoire naturelle de Dr Maurice Royer". Maurice Royer (1878-1942) was a French entomologist and Hemiptera specialist. Front board somewhat discoloured near the spine, light, mostly marginal foxing, otherwise a very good, unmarked copy. Horn-Schenkling, 22125.
