Well preserved hand-coloured engraving of red and green algae, after original drawings by the renowned French botanical artist Alfred Riocreux (1820-1912), or perhaps his father, and finely engraved by this compatriot, the natural history illustrator and engraver Auguste Duménil. A few faint spots; left edge a bit irregular, with some light fraying. No creases, dents or tears present. Nissen ZBI, 3021; Sabin, 57457.
