Pittsburgh, PA, The Carnegie Museum, 1901-1922. 13 volumes in 13. Large 8vo (23.8 x 16.0 cm). Numerous pages, plates, and text illustrations. Uniform green cloth with gilt title on the spines.

The start of this series. An uninterrupted run. With many important contributions, mainly to new world zoology. Herpetology - both fossil and recent - is represented in several papers. For instance, in volume XI we find one of L. E. Griffin's several papers, List of South American lizards of the Carnegie Museum, with descriptions of four new species (16 pp., four plates), and in the same volume a vivid account of the baffling death of the herpetologist Gustav Adolph Link (1860-1916) who was bitten by his "pet" rattlesnake while teaching students of the University of Pittsburgh and dismissed the seriousness of the matter. Some light damp staining to a few margins. A very good, unmarked set. Rare in this state. Cat. BM(NH) Serial Titles, p. 117; Vanzolini II, p. 34, etc.
