Amsterdam, Amsterdamsche Grafische School, 1923-1928. In two volumes. Square 4to (25.0 x 24.0 cm). 96 [33; 63] pp.; 35 [35; 0] plates (including several in full colour). Numerous text illustrations, including portraits (tipped-in). Pictorial wrappers in three colours.

Two seldom seen if not rare publications by and about the famous Amsterdamsche Grafische School, an educational institute whose teachers and pupils created and disseminated the virtues of the Amsterdamse School, an architectonical design style transitional between Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) and Art Deco. Illustrations show original (free) artwork, designs for advertisements and other printed matter, cartoons, portraits of board members, and so on. Several illustrations are in full colour. We know of only a few copies. The Wolfsonian FIU Library Collection holds the first, but not the second volume. Of the second we found one auction record. Provenance: bookplate of A. J. Van Der Linden mounted on the first book front cover verso. Some wear and staining to the wrappers; bindings of first book weak; spine ends torn and frayed; otherwise very good.
