Meyer, W.
[Brocade paper]. Small fruits and flowers.
Augsburg, Wilhelm Meyer, ca. 1750. Single, oblong leaf (35.5 x 43.0 cm). Printed in gold and additionally hand-coloured in various shades of blue, pink, and orange.
A stunning leaf showing a multitude of small flowers, berries, and leaves in rococo-style, Printed by the firm of Wilhelm Meyer, signed, and numbered (no. 30) in the lower border. With this design, Meyer appeared to be a follower of Joseph Friedrich Leopold (1695-1727) who published a very similar relief printing, although with smaller flowers (see Rijksmuseum). Another, similar design, by the Berlin printer Johann Andreas Seger (active around 1750), is shown by Heijbroek and Greven. Edges uncut, therefore a bit uneven, slight loss at printed edges central vertical fold, as often. Otherwise, a very good, clean copy. Heijbroek, J. F. and T. C. Greven (1994) Sierpapier.
