France, ca. 1810. Single, oblong leaf (37.2 x 47.0 cm). Blue paper, hand-stamped in black and white.

A stunning leaf showing a seemingly regular pattern consisting of a multitude of near-identical, yet always slightly different flowers. Bottom and top border in white, respectively black "half flowers". Similar designs, e.g., by J. G. Zeller in Kempten, but gilt-printed, are shown by Heijbroek and Greven. This papier dominité leaf, however, seems to be very rare. Edges uncut, therefore a bit uneven; central vertical fold, as often. Heijbroek, J. F. and T. C. Greven (1994) Sierpapier. Marmer-, Brocaat- en Sitspapier in Nederland, 91, 142.
