Paris, J. Tempère, 1890-1896. [Reprint Lochum, Antiquariaat Junk, 1974]. Two volumes in two. Large 4to. 481pp. [180, vi, 35; 260]; numerous plates and text illustrations. Republisher's uniform printed wrappers.
A seldom-seen reprint of a very rare series edited by the microscopist and botanist Jean Claudius Tempère (1847-1926), also known as Johannes Albert Tempère. More on Tempère can be found on microscopist net. Improvement of microscope and photography techniques lay at the basis for this well-illustrated series which contains descriptions and illustrations of numerous new and poorly known species and forms. It includes, for instance, H. Peragallo's Monographie du genrePleurosigma et des genres alliés. Both volumes have an index. The first volume covers the years 1890-1893; the second 1893-1896. A very good, clean set.
