Paris, Masson, 1906-1924. 46 papers in 19 issues. 4to (28.3 x 22.8 cm). 1094 pp.; 78 plates (three in full colour), several text illustrations, one large, folded map. All parts with a map of the itinerary as frontispiece. Original uniform printed wrappers.
The rarely seen complete scientific results, dealing with many groups invertebrates and vertebrates living in the Antarctic region. Edited by the French naturalist, (polar) explorer, an winner of two Olympic medals, Jean Baptiste Étienne Auguste Charcot (1867-1936). Published between 1906 and 1909, with a single issue published in 1924. Of this series we found no detailed collation, but our set is complete beyond reasonable doubt: The 1924 issue contains a list of contributions projected and published. Three papers, on cestodes [designated author: Raphaël Anatole Émile Blanchard (1857-1919)], trematodes [designated author Jules Guiart (1870-1965)] and free-living nematodes [designated author Axel Krister Edward Leonard Jägerskiöld (1867-1945)], already announced in 1906, were at that time still not published. There is no trace of these works anywhere on the internet or in library catalogues consulted. Neither are these works mentioned in Klimpel et al. (2017) " Biodiversity and evolution of parasitic life in the southern ocean". We conclude that they remained unpublished. The forementioned list does not include Roule's paper on Hexactinides, which, however, is present. A total list of papers included is as follows: 1906 Koehler; Vaney: Echinodèrmes 74 pp.; 6 pls; (1906) Sluiter: Tuniciers 50 pp.; 5 pls (1 fc); (1906 Billard: Hydroïdes. 18 pp.; 5 text figs.; (1906) Coutière, Chevreux, Richardson, Quidor: Crustacés 150 pp.; 6 pls; (1906) Vayssière, Lamy, Joubin, Thiele.
