Semarang, G. C. T. van Dorp, 1912. Four volumes in four. Large 8vo (23.9 x 16.0 cm). 2515 pp. [I: xvii, 628; II: xiii, 514; III: ix, 579; IV: xiii, 742]; frontispiece portrait of Wilken (tissue guarded). Uniform blind-stamped green cloth. Gilt title on the spines. Patterned endpapers. Edges green.

Deals with the Indonesian traditional law, religion, ethology, animism and religious rites and many other, more or less related subjects. A very good, uniform set with all four parts. George Alexander Wilken (1847-1891) was a Dutch ethnologist and lawyer. Small publisher's note bound in Volume II. Endpapers partly toned, gilt lettering a bit faded, a few light pencil markings, otherwise clean, unmarked copies. Rare, especially in this excellent state.
