The main work is a very rare treatise on fossil turtles and tortoises with detailed descriptions of the specimens. This was published in the Archives Néerlandaises des Sciences Exactes et Naturelles, published on behalf of the Dutch Academy of Sciences in Haarlem. Contained in volume IV(4). The second paper, published in the same year, contains the extensive description of two new fossil turtles. Provenance: with the bookplate of the Dutch zoologist Lieven Ferdinand De Beaufort (1879-1968), after whom the zoological periodical Beaufortia was named, on the front paste-down. Endpapers split at inner joints, small stamp on title page, some repairs to the plate folds (not touching the images) and to the title page lower margin and one text leaf margin, otherwise a very good copy. The second paper uncut, partly unopened. A very good, clean copy. Nissen ZBI, 4423 [main paper].
