Important and rare contribution to the well-preserved cretaceous fish and reptile fauna of Bohemia, Czechia, with fine illustrations of new and little known species. The author, Antonín "Anton" Jan Frisch, or Frič, (1832-1913) was a Czech palaeontologist, best known for his magnificent magnum opus, Fauna der Gaskohle und der Kalksteine der Permformation Böhmens. He was director of the National Museum in Prague. In 1902 he received the Lyell Medal from the Geological Society of London. Inscribed by the author on the title page (to the Naturwissenschaftliche Verein in Regensburg). Some light foxing, especially to the explanatory leaves, otherwise a very good, clean copy. Adler III, p. 136; Nissen ZBI, 1440.
