Wiegmann, [C. A.] F.
Landmollusken (Stylommatophoren). Zootomischer Teil.
Frankfurt a. M., Moritz Diesterweg, 1898. Large 4to (30.0 x 23.1 cm). Title page, 269 pp. [numbered 289-557]; 11 fine, lithographed plates [numbered XXI-XXXI]. 20th-century bluish-green cloth. Spine with burgundy leather label with gilt title. Original printed wrappers bound in.
A rare bound copy of seldom-seen publication by the German malacologist Carl Arend Friedrich "Fritz" Wiegmann (1836-1901). This forms a part of Willy Kükenthal's Wissenschäftlige Reiseergebnisse of two travels and explorations of the Mollucas and Borneo (Kalimantan). The fine plates are after original drawings by the author. From the library of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020), with his stamp on the front free endpaper recto and front wrapper top margin. Johnson added, in photocopy, the titles of the Abhandlungen, and of the second part of Kükenthal's Wissenschafliche Reiseergebnisse, which were not originally published with Wiegmann's work. The wrappers with a few crude repairs, otherwise a very good copy. Cat. BM(NH) p. 1032. Not in Nissen.
