Important contribution to the very rich reptile fauna of Russia and adjacent states by the Russian herpetologist Alexander Mikhailovich Nikolsky (1858-1942). He was particularly interested in in systematics, faunal surveys, zoogeography and life histories (see Adler). The work includes new taxa. Well-illustrated. In Russian, but the diagnoses of taxa in Latin. Uncut, unopened. Cancelled stamp on front wrappers, wrapper edges a bit frayed, one text page with a short tear, otherwise a very good, clean set.
