[Den Haag, A. Boerner], 1917. Oblong folio (20.0 x 33.3 cm). 192 pp.; five plates including two large, double-folded. Contemporary blue cloth with gilt title on the front board. Floral-patterned endpapers. All edges gilt.

Rather peculiar publication on airships ("Zeppelins"), signed at the end by the author, the German (later Dutch) inventor Arno Boerner, "27 Sept. 1918" with the text: "....Jedenfalls sind die von mir neu angewendeten Prinzipien berufen die Luftschiffahrt in neue Bahnen zu lenken...". The larger plates shows a cross section of Boerner's airship. Cyclostyle (stencilled), with a printed plate. It contains two leaves (without page number) of a Schlusswort (Conclusion), also signed and dated by Boerner on 27 September 1918. The description of a copy in the Deutsche Nationalbibliotek does not list these leaves and possibly they are missing, perhaps for being printed later. Ex library copy with handwritten name Alb. Kapteyn. The Dutch engineer Albertus Philippus Kapteijn "Albert Kapteyn" (1848-1927) wrote a comment Oordeel omtrent het systeem-Boerner voor bestuurbare luchtschepen (1917). Kapteyn was by far the first to scrutinize Boerner's ideas. Four stamps on the front free endpaper, binding a bit weak, label remnants on spine foot, otherwise very good. Very rare.
