Paris, ca. 1810. Oval engraved portrait (20.7 x 14.8 cm). Printed surface ca. 15 x 10 cm.
A fine portrait of the renowned Swedish chemist Jöns Jacob Berzelius (1779-1848), one of the founders of modern chemistry. He was the first to discover elements such as Cerium and Thorium. after the portrait by M. Dulong and engraved by A. Tardieu. Rather foxed, but mostly in the margins, hardly visible when framed; edges slightly irregular, otherwise a good, unmarked copy.
