First German translation of the first mineralogical book by a British author. It deals with gemstones, and other interesting minerals. In London, it was published three times - in 1652, 1653, and 1659 - each time with a different title. Little is known about the author, Thomas Nichols. Printed label of the Henry Polissack Collection on the front pastedown. Japanese paper reinforcement in the gutter between endpapers and text block, binding simple. A good copy. Sinkankas, 4757; Ward & Carozzi, 1656 (second British edition).
