A very unusual, nicely bound copy of a very uncommon work. Illustrations include distribution maps and dispersal diagrams. The plates show the tiny German North Sea island of Mellum, birds, and nests. Friedrich Goethe (1911-2003) was director of the bird observatory at Heligoland. A truly excellent, clean, and unmarked copy - the copy to give or receive.
