A very rare original – as published – copy, of an influential work by the German anatomist Rudolf Friedrich Johann Heinrich Wagner (1805-1864). "Wagner conducted research in a number of areas. His most important work concerned mammalian ova and sperm.... It remained for Wagner to discover (1835)...the nucleolus" (DSB). Portfolio straps partly lost; boards a bit soiled; text leaves somewhat foxed, mainly in the margins; plates - on thicker paper - generally cleaner. DSB vol. XIV, pp. 113-114.
