Botanica Pharmaceutica exhibens plantas officinalis quarum nomina indispensatoris recentur, cum Iconibus… Plate 69. Urtica dioica. [Nettle].
Berolini (Berlin), 1788. Folio-size (35.8 x 22.2 cm) delicately hand-coloured loose lithograph of plants with printed caption.
The Pharmaceutica is a very rare work; it is seldom found complete and even individual plates of plants are rare. This print of a common nettle, also known as burn nettle, and stinging nettle. The nettle is widely used in food products, such as cheese. This plate is in very good condition, with a diagonal crease in the lower left side, and a vague, pencilled caption only. No dents, tears or chips present. The colouring is precise and accurate. Nissen BBI, 784. Stafleu and Cowan (under 2834) "Not seen".
