This is the first of a series of catalogues of species from one of the largest 19th-century collections. With a preface by the naturalist (chiefly entomologist and naturalia dealer) Ludwig Wilhelm Schaufuss (1833-1900). Long used as a reference to names, authors and locations. As such it is still of value today. Spine cover detached, otherwise, an excellent, clean copy. Bound copies, such as this one, are rare. We have never seen an interleaved copy before. Added is an undated price list (after 1877), based upon this work, and most probably also written by Schaufuss and published in Oberblasewitz-Dresden. Provenance: pictorial bookplate of the Austrian scholar Dr Wolfgang von Wurzbach (1879-1957) "Tenax-Proposti" mounted on the front pastedown; the name Alfred von Wurzbach (father of Wolfgang) in an old hand on the front free endpaper verso.
