Paris, L. Maison, 1853-1873. 14 (of 16) parts in four. 8vo (Parts I-IV, VII-IX; 23.0 x 15.7 cm) and large 8vo (Parts X-XVI; 28.5 x 17.8 cm). Half-titles and title pages to each issue, 2800 pp.; 14 finely lithographed plates and 15 ditto portraits. Uniform later buckram. Gilt title on the spines. Original printed wrappers to Parts X-XVI bound in; original letter by Mulsant tipped in.

Rare set of Mulsants collected works. With an additional, 4 pp. handwritten letter, by Mulsant, mounted on the second blank of the second volume. Contains the descriptions and illustrations of numerous new and poorly known insects, of which the Coleoptera and Diptera are quite prominent. Also with several obituaries and biographies, the latter with fine portraits. These are not mentioned by Horn-Schenkling. Several papers have co-authors, such as Rey, and Godart. In fact, all papers are entomological, except a Mulsant's catalogue of hummingbirds, which occupies pp. 133-162 of the 16th and last issue. Dampstain in the top outer corner of Part 7 (obviously from before binding); some parts a bit spotted, but mostly clean. Parts 5-6, with, together, one plate and without portraits, not included.
