Schweiger-Lerchenfeld, A., Freiherr von
Die Frauen des Orients in der Geschichte, in der Dichtung und im Leben.
Wien, Leipzig, Hartleben, 1904. Large, thick 8vo (26.2 x 18.5 cm). [iv], 792 pp.; 11 full colour plates with tissue-guards, 15 b/w plates, and 338 text illustrations includingnumerous photographs. Original blind-tooled half cloth with gilt title on the spine and front board, original patterned gilt-paper flyleaves and blue edges.
Very attractive copy of the first edition of this massive and sumptuously illustrated book on women of the Near and Middle East, and India. Profusely illustrated. Pictorial bookplate of the Munich art collector Benno Gereon Engel on the front paste-down, unobtrusively placed institute's stamp on the title page verso (not shining through), otherwise a very fine copy indeed, in a very decorative binding.
